Established in 1959, Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint stock Corporation (TISCO), the cradle of the metallurgical industry of Vietnam is the first an unique metallurgical zone in Vietnam with an integrated production line from exploiting iron ore to making cast iron, steel billet and rolling steel. On November 29th 1963 the first, batch of cast iron of the Corporation came out of the future making an important breakthrough in the cause of construction and development of the Country.

Over almost 50 years of operation and development, Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel joint stock Corporation has been non-stop growing up in strength, with the rolling steel capacity currently of 550,000 tons per year, turn-over gained VND 4,000 billion in 2006, the broad an large product distribution network including 5 branches in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang province, a sale office in Ho Chi Minh City and the network of distributors in cities and provinces throughout of Vietnam.

On September 29th 2007, Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel joint stock Corporation officially started implementing the second phase expansion project, marking a new important step of the development. The project with total investment of almost VND 4,000 billions aims to increase the annual ability for making steel in billet and rolling steel that using domestic material up to 1,000,000 tons by the year 2009, in order to better meet the needs of the market and change the Corporation to be one of the steel makers having Significant scale with the advanced technology and equipments in the area and in the world, to guarantee the fast and firm development of the Corporation during the process of integrating international economy.
