After the Bac Ha horserace, losing horses were slaughtered to process a specialty of H’mong people – thang co.

This year, three horses were butchered to make the largest thang co pan in Vietnam, which was recognized as a national record by the Vietnam Record Book Center.
The cuisine was cooked in a pan, casted by pig iron, weighing up to 1.5 tons. The pan is 3m in diameter, 1m deep and its capacity is 2cu.m.
Thang co is a specialty of H’mong people in northwestern region. It is processed from meat and internal organs of horses, pigs or buffaloes.
For many people, thang co is not easy to eat because of its unique taste.
The special cuisine was served at Bac Ha market.
