Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung has made a fact-finding tour of Ibaraki and other prefectures in northeastern Japan to promote cooperation between Vietnam and these localities.

Ambassador Hung and his delegation met with Governor Masaru Hashimoto and the Ibaraki chapter of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association on July 14 in Ibaraki prefecture, a scientific-technological hub and leading agricultural production centre in Japan.
The ambassador exchanged views with representatives from the Ibaraki chapter of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association on opportunities for investment cooperation between Ibaraki and Vietnamese localities.
The Governor of Ibaraki promised to boost cooperation with Vietnam, adding that he will join hands with the local Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association to organise activities for the 2013 Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year to further strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
The ambassador also visited a number of new technology research and development companies in the prefecture.
Earlier, Ambassador Hung visited some northeastern prefectures that suffered heavy losses from the earthquake-tsunami disaster last year.
During his meeting with the Governor of Fukushima prefecture, Yuhei Sato, the Mayor of Fukushima city, Takanori Seto, the Deputy Governor of Miyagi prefecture, Masahiro Wako and the Vice Mayor of Sendai city, Nobuyoshi Inaba, the Vietnamese diplomat said his country is willing to do every thing it can to help efforts to overcome the aftermath of the twin disasters and the following nuclear incident.
He praised Japan’s advanced agriculture and said he hopes Japan will increase cooperation with Vietnam in this field.
The local Japanese leaders thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their timely support, emphasizing that with the spiritual support and assistance from international friends, including Vietnam, and with their own efforts, Japan will recover from the disaster and enjoy further development.
They expressed their wish to promote economic cooperation with Vietnam in trade, human resources training, and people-to-people exchanges to enhance their bilateral strategic partnership.
During their trip from July 12-14, the Vietnamese delegation also visited a number of sites that were hardest hit by the disasters and met with the Fukushima chapter of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association.
