Last week, 30-year old Nguyen Van Chin in Nghia Binh commune, Tan Ky district, the central province of Nghe An dug a potato in the shape of two people hugging each other, attracting hundreds of people to his house to have a look.

Some said the rare potato’s shape looks like a mother embracing her child. 

On first glance, many may think there are two potatoes but it is actually a whole one as the “mother and child” that is connected at their “feet”.

Chin said he has been growing potatoes in the backyard of his house and using organic fertilizer instead of chemicals for the plants.

Recently, he dug up 200kg of potatoes and found the one with a strange shape so he decided to keep for himself as a memory.

According to Chin, a man offered him VND500,000 (US$25) for the strange potato last Wednesday but he did not want to sell it.

An old man in the neighborhood said his family has been growing potatoes but they have never dug up any with a shape as strange as that.
