The Ministry of Health’s Health of Mothers and Children Department has asked related provinces to quickly inspect recent obstetrical accidents.

Le Thi Huong's mother fell into a faint after Huong died.
The department has sent a dispatch to the Health Departments of Quang Ngai and Hung Yen province, requesting these agencies quickly investigating the responsibility of related individuals and organizations in recent deaths of pregnant women and their babies.
Specifically, Le Thi Huong, 23, began labor was hospitalized to the Quang Ngai Polyclinic at 11pm on April 18. At noon of April 19, she had respiratory problems and was moved to the operating room. However, she died the next morning.
Huong’s family was very angry and blamed the death on the hospital because the family asked doctors to perform a Cesarian for Huong, but doctors insisted that she could give birth naturally.
In Hung Yen province, Dao Thi Hanh, 31, went to Hung Yen Polyclinic for giving birth at 7am of April 19. At 10pm of the same day, she was very tired. Her family asked doctors to take a Cesarian because the baby was big (4kg) and the mother was tired, but doctors did not agree.
At nearly 4am of April 20, Hanh gave birth to a boy of 4kg but the baby died immediately. At 5am, Hanh could not breathe. She was moved to the emergency aid room but the woman was also dead.
These accidents occurred for nearly two months but the local health departments have not investigated and reported the results to the Ministry of Health.
