Hundreds of guests at a wedding party in the southern province of Binh Duong felt sick when they were served with smelly chicken and a miscellaneous soup. The incident was reported to the local authorities.
Groom Le Xuan Tiep says that he booked a party for nearly 300 guests on the afternoon of April 22 at Minh Khang Restaurant. The menu included five cuisines, worth over VND40 million ($2,000).
When the waiters brought the second course – chicken, guests could not taste it because of the bad odor. The chicken was friable. Guests were again tortured by smelly pork from the miscellaneous soup.
The groom and his family asked to talk with the restaurant manager but the man was not there. Waiters tried to collect smelly food but they were prevented by the groom’s family. The scene was maintained and the case was reported to police.
The restaurant’s representative offered an apology to the groom and his family and was willing to pay compensation of VND3 million ($150).
The groom, Mr. Tiep, says that the wedding party was a sad memory. Many guests left very early.
Police say that they are investigating the origin of rotten chicken and pork used by the restaurant.
One month earlier, also in Binh Duong, a restaurant used rotten meat to process cuisines for a wedding party of a couple, who are workers from the Song Than Industrial Zone.
Many guests asked the restaurant to keep maintaining the scene for police’s investigation but waiters quickly removed the smelly cuisines.
Mr. Ta Trong Khang, Vice Chief of Binh Duong Veterinary Bureau, says that the bureau will inspect slaughtering houses and frozen warehouses in Binh Duong this week to hunt for rotten meat.
Last week, Binh Duong authorities detected more than eight tons of rotten pork and beef at the warehouse of a puddings processing enterprise in Thuan An. This enterprise also received 2.2 tons of rotten beef “robbed” from Dong Nai province.
