Under a revised circular from the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), the ministry has encouraged any input that would lead to the uncovering of violations in the upcoming university entrance exam process.

MoET focuses on exam cheating

According to the new regulations for college and university entrance exams, the ministry’s steering committee for entrance examinations, examination councils of colleges and universities and examination inspector, as well as education inspectors at all levels will be responsible for receiving violation information and collecting evidence. Any wrongdoings found to have been made will be punishable.

Authorities are interested that any violations by examinees or those in charge of holding tests be brought forward so that solutions can be found in a timely manner.

Anyone with evidence of wrongdoings are urged to send it to authoritised agencies within seven days after the ending of the exam period, but they will also be held accountable for the accuracy of their information. Any such denunciations will be kept anonymous.

The Education Department and Training and Police, in the northern province of Bac Giang, are currently investigating a case where individuals were accused of cheating on a high school exam.

Recently, a former physical education teacher of Doi Ngo Private High School encouraged the school's students to inform on their classmates by making videos of anybody whom they saw cheating and post them on the internet. In 2010 he also pointed out several violations at the school, which resulted in his forced resignation.

Than Van Khoa, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, said that the high school would be investigated for these and other alleged problems.

Since this incident, many schools have started training courses that will help teachers detect any cheating using high tech devices during the upcoming college and university entrance exams.
