Photo: Tuoi TreA Vietnamese elementary school has won first prize in the Asia-Pacific emerging countries category of an Intel-sponsored award for educational innovation.
Nguyen Binh Khiem Elementary School, located in Ho Chi Minh City, was given the ‘Gold award for excellence’ for their educational creativity and integration of technology, and for serving as a role model for other schools by setting high standards and fostering global skills, said the Regional Intel Teach School Awards committee.
Other contestants came from across the Asia-Pacific region, including Caraga Regional Science High School (the Philippines), Roots School System (Pakistan), Royal College (Sri Lanka), Kolej Tun Duatu Haji Bujang, (Malaysia), and Hai Ba Trung High School (Vietnam).
A piece of technological equipment worth USD5,000 will be presented to the school at a later date.
The Awards aims to honor schools’ efforts to achieve high levels of proficiency in the use of technology for effective teaching and learning.
The committee is composed of representatives from UNESCO, educators, and experts on the application of IT in education.
