Experts on May 10 announced to discover many strange fauna and flora species in the Thien Duong (Heaven) cave in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a world natural heritage site in central Vietnam.

A bat in Thien Duong cave.

Mr. Pham Xuan Chung, leader of Thien Duong Cave survey team, said that though the cave does not have sunlight but there are many fauna and flora species living in the cave.

The survey group discovered fish that do not have eyes in the stream inside the cave. These fish look like catfish, with two antennas on their head, weighing from0.5 to 1kg/fish.

Experts also discovered a species of insect which is not similar to any species of insects that they have seen in the nature. These insects look like crickets, with body length of 1-1.5cm and very long antennas and nippers. They are white and light brown.

The survey team also saw bats in the cave, which flied very slowly than normal, and some strange plant species.

Scientists will conduct further research in the cave.
