Changes to rules regarding land management, anti-corruption, salary promotion, and modifications to the 1992 Constitution are the four major issues that law makers are expected to make thorough considerations of at the on-going meeting of the 11th National Assembly.

While giving the opening speech of the meeting, which is scheduled from May 7-15 in Hanoi, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong admitted that they are the most complicated and sensible matters to be addressed.

They are vital to the sustainable development of Vietnam now and in the future, he added.

The issues have been dealt with by the Politburo for a long time but any ideas regarding the issues will be carefully studied so that law makers will vote to approve them by the end of the meeting, Trong stressed.

The General Secretary raised questions on why 70 percent of complaints from people lodged to state agencies involve land management and why the value of land has failed to become an essential factor for socio-economic development.

Land is a special asset of the State and a valuable resource. So the management of land plays an important role in maintaining political stability and social order, ensuring national defense, and boosting the real estate market, Trong noted.

Concerning corruption, Trong told the deputies to focus on fighting corruption in some fields such as management of land and natural resources, construction, public asset purchase, management and use of state capital, and personnel appointment in state agencies.
