Vehicles will have to pay toll fees for travelling via a section of Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Highway from this evening at 10pm, according to the Viet Nam Express Corporation (VEC).

Following this, the section from Dai Xuyen in Cao Bo connecting National Highway No 10 and Phat Diem in Ninh Binh Province will charge a fee.

Nguyen Van Nhi, VEC deputy general director, said the tolls will be applied to all vehicles using the road.

Accordingly, the lowest rates for a 12 seat car, vans with loading capacities of less than 2 tonnes and buses will be VND15,000 ($0.7) while the highest toll will come to VND70,000 ($3.5).

For vehicles with loading capacities of 18 tonnes and 14 feet container trucks, the lowest toll will be VND 280,000 ($13) and the highest VND60,000 ($3).

When entering the expressway, vehicles will receive a card that measures the length they travel and will pay a fee on exit.

The 50-km highway of Cau Gie-Ninh Binh, with six lanes, is the first of its kind in the Red Delta to connect Ha Noi with other provinces in the south.
