The Hanoi’s People Committee has earmarked 1,476 ha of land for 332 urgent projects in the 2011-2020 period.

The city will undertake an ambitious traffic infrastructure programme

The projects include housing, education, public works, health and recreational facilities.

The projects include the Nhon-Hanoi Station elevated railway section; numerous overpasses; 15 roads in Ha Dong District, seven roads in Tay Ho District and Tu Hiep Bridge in Thanh Tri District.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recently approved a master plan for the socioeconomic development in Hanoi until 2030. According to the plan, the capital city will need between USD180 and USD190 billion to complete the various infrastructure projects in the coming decade.

Under the Hanoi Master Plan approved by the PM, Ba Dinh District will remain the national political and administrative centre.

By 2020, the city will be home to 7.3-7.9 million people, and by 2050, it could reach 10.8 million.
