A cold snap that is moving from the north will cool down the heat wave that has been affecting the country, especially in the northern and central regions, the National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Center said.

The cold snap will combine with the southeastern wind to bring showers and rainstorms to northern and central provinces and cities.
As a result, the current hot weather will cool down for three days starting today, and after which the temperatures will rise again.
The ongoing heat wave resulted from the hot low pressure system from the west, combined with the hot and dry wind from Laos, the center said.
Yesterday, the hot weather remained in many northern and central provinces, with temperatures ranging between 36-39o C, even and 39-41o C in some areas.
The temperature was recorded at 40.5o C in Cao Bang Province’s Bao Lac District and 40.2o C in Nghe An Province’s Quy Hop District yesterday.
Under such hot conditions, the Forestry General Department on Thursday warned that many forests in such provinces as Cao Bang, Lang Son, Son La and Nghe An Provinces are facing a fire risk at level 5, i.e extremely dangerous.
At such a level, should a fire break out in those forests, it will spread very fast and very fiercely.
Meanwhile, many forest areas in 18 other provinces are being threatened with level 4 fire risk, i.e dangerous.
