“Dau Cong duyen dang” (elegant plus) contest, aiming to seek, recognize and honour the beauty, talent and energy of girls living with HIV, is co-organized by the Committee for youth and teenagers under Vietnam Television, Centre for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI), and For the Bright Future Network (BFN+).

Girls, who participate in the contest, are outstanding representatives for positive images of people living with HIV as well as affirm their role in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Vietnam.

The organizers of the contest hope that the program will contribute to reducing the stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and changing the awareness of the society toward people living with the disease.

The short-list and semifinal rounds of the “Dau Cong duyen dang” contest were organized in October, 2010. 15 contestants were chosen to attend the final round from more than 100 profiles registered to join the contest. The final round will be held from November 9-14 in Hanoi and will be broadcast live on VTV6 channel at 20.00 on November 14.

Requirements for candidates joining the contest are not only physical appearance beauty but also keeping health, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, actively participate in HIV prevention activities and other social activities. This is a significant activity marking 20 years of HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Vietnam.
