22-year-old Luu Thi Diem Huong, the Vietnamese representative at the ongoing Miss Universe beauty pageant in Las Vegas and her ao dai have been ranked 8th in the contest’s Top 10 best National Costume by missosology.org, the widely-known website on international beauty contests.

Miss Brazil Gabriela Markus leads the list and is followed by Miss China Ji Dan Xu.

“This is the most elegant ao dai ever seen at Miss Universe with rich colors and nice blending of hues. This is a northern ao dai with the southern one featuring a conical hat,” the site comments about Huong and her participating costume.

The dress made from natural silk and decorated with brocade patterns is designed by Thuan Viet.

Earlier, Huong has been voted in the contest’s Supermodel Top 16 by Global Beauties online magazine.

Fans can vote for Huong at http://www.missuniverse.com/members/profile/652707/year:2012. 16 best contestants will be chosen to the finale night on December 19 (local time).

In 2010, the 1.74-meter beauty represented Vietnam at the Miss Earth competition held in Nha Trang and won the Best in Swimwear contest and entered the Top 14 at the contest. One year later, in February, she was voted by Global Beauties as one of three most beautiful Asian women in Asia.
