Access American Education (AAE) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program yesterday launched the Hug the Earth photo contest to raise awareness and the responsibility of high school students in Ho Chi Minh City on environment protection on the occasion of the upcoming World Earth Day on April 22.

Entries, including a photo related to nature together with a 100-150 word essay on the picture or World Earth Day, can be submitted from now until April 30.

A special prize will be chosen by votes and likes on Facebook. There are four prizes provided by the organizers starting from VND500,000 (US$25) and going up to VND2 million (US$100).

“The competition is not only a chance for young people to show off their photography skills, but is also a meaningful social and charity event,” said comedian Minh Beo, the contest ambassador.

For each photo, AAE will donate VND4,000 (US 20 cents) to the UNV fund, which will be used to improve community life in local provinces.
