Vietnam’s top player Nguyen Tien Minh is scheduled to compete in China from April 17-22 as seed No7 at the 2012 Asian Badminton Championships.

Three other Vietnamese players, namely Vu Thi Trang, Bui Bang Duc, and Dao Manh Thang, will also join the event, which is expected to attract the world’s most outstanding players such as Lin Dan, Chen Long, Chen Jin, Simon Santoso, Taufik Hydayat, and Du Pengyu.
Tien Minh is hopeful of winning the coming champs as he has just moved two notches up to 10th position in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings after gaining outstanding results at the recent Australian Badminton Open.
As a result of draws at the champs, Minh will meet Indian rival H. S. Prannoy (world seed No89) in the first round. If Minh wins, he will then enter the next round to play against world No5 player Chen Jin from China who defeated him at the Australian Badminton Open one week ago.
In the men’s double event, Minh’s teammates Bui Bang Duc and Dao Manh Thang will face Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto and Afiat Yuris Wirawan from Indonesia in their first match.
In the women’s event, Vietnam’s Vu Thi Trang (the world No145) will meet Lydia Li Ya (world seed No98).
