Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh defeated Singapore's Yong Zhao Ashton Chen 21-17, 21-17 in the Badminton Asia Championships' men's singles second round in Qingdao, China yesterday, April 18.

In the women's doubles, Nguyen Thi Sen and Vu Thi Trang lost to South Korea's Hye In-choi and So Young-kim. Bui Bang Duc and Dao Manh Thang also lost to Malaysia's V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim in the men's doubles.
