The 2012 Asian Muay Thai Championships will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 7-14, gathering fighters from nearly 20 countries and territories around the region.

The event is co-organized by the General Department of Physical Training and Sports and the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Asian Muay Federation has entrusted the task to HCM City , which successfully hosted the third Asian Indoor Games and has held numerous international Muay tournaments in the past.
Mai Ba Hung, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said almost all preparations for the tournament have been completed.
Muay Thai kickboxing, commonly known as Muay, is a traditional martial art from Thailand, in which the fighters use their whole bodies to throw, punch and kick their rivals into submission.
