Viet Nam's Le Huynh Chau failed to move to the next round of the men's taekwondo 58kg category in the Olympics London.
Chau lost to No 2 seed Wei Chen Yang of Taipei in the qualifying round yesterday.
Chau, who won a bronze medal at the world championships last year, had previously beaten Wei twice: once at the Asian Olympic qualifier in 2011, and once the Asian championship held in HCM City last May.
Another Vietnamese representative in the taekwondo event, Chu Hoang Dieu Linh will meet No 6 seed Helena Fromm of Germany in the first round match of the 67kg class tomorrow. This will prove to be a huge challenge for Linh, who is attending her very first Olympics.
In the women's 48kg freestyle wrestling, Vietnamese female wrestler Nguyen Thi Lua lost to Canadian Carol Huynh, who is of Vietnamese origin, 5-0 in the qualifier.
Huynh won a gold medal at Beijing 2008 and also wo the recent international championships.
