2012 National Boxing Champs opens in Dak Lak

The 2012 National Boxing Championships opened in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak on August 20 with the participation of 111 male and 80 female boxers from across the country.

They will compete in 11 different weight categories ranging from 46 to 91kg for men and 10 others from 45 to 81kg for women.

All the matches will take place in square rings with a total of 30 national and international referees involved.

There will be fierce competition at the tournament with the participation of strong boxers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and some other opponents, who won medals at the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam and the 1st Asian Martial Arts Games in Thailand in 2009.

The event aims to select outstanding boxers for the national squad to prepare for the upcoming international competitions, including the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia and the 4th Asian Indoor Games in the Republic of Korea in 2013.
