Phong Phu Ha Nam beat Thai Nguyen 2-1 in the opening match.
Right after the whistle, Phong Phu Ha Nam put pressure on the guests' side. Van Thi Thanh opened the scoring for the hosts in the 5th minutes from a free kick on the right wing. Thanh Huong helped her team widen the gap in the 32nd minute.
After the break, Thai Nguyen did not miss their chance to narrow the gap into 2-1 in the 63rd minute from the penalty spot.
The visitors continued to bring pressure to bear on Phong Phu Ha Nam, creating a lot of real chances to score. However, the score 2-1 score remained unchanged till the final whistle.
The tournament is going on today with the match between Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam Coal and Mineral.
The 2010 National Women's Football Championship - Canh Buom Do (Red Sail) Cup attracts six teams including Hanoi Trang An I, Hanoi Trang An II, Phong Phu Ha Nam, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.
The teams are competing on two-round robin basis. The first leg takes place from March 8-26 in Ha Nam and the second will be held at Thong Nhat stadium in Ho Chi Minh City from June 9-26.
