Yousef Ahmad Ali opened the scoring for Qatar in the 16 minute from a counter-attack. Vietnam’s Nguyen Trong Hoang and Nguyen Quang Hai grabbed goals for the host in the 60^th and 78^th minute.

However, the ticket to the next round went to the visitors who won 4-2 on aggregate.

In other qualifying matches, Uzbekistan defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-0 to advance the third round with a 7-0 aggregate victory.

Host Kuwait came from a goal down to defeat the Philippines 2-1 to continue their World Cup journey.

China eased through the next round after beating Laos 6-1 and Syria had an impressive 4-0 victory against Tajikistan.

The third qualifying round draw will be held on July 30 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
