It’s the first victory to the reign of Phan Thanh Hung as a manager of the national football team.
Even though the Vietnamese had more control over the ball in the first half, Au Yeung Yiu Chung helped Hong Kong scored the first goal of the game at 41st minute due to the visiting squad’s poor defense.
However, Vietnam made a comeback with two consecutive goals in 4 minutes with 15 minutes left in the second half by striker Van Quyet and midfielder Trong Hoang to secure a final victory over the hosts.
In last minutes of the game, Hong Kong missed a penalty, which could have earned them possibly a draw.
